What is the Bible book of James all about? What can we learn from it? What is the directive or message for our lives?
"How can we rediscover our faith? Let's go back and look at our faith before it was reduced to a system, before it was reduced to a system of abstractions and beliefs. How can we rediscover our faith as a series of stories and as a series of encounters?"(Brian McLaren)
"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." (James 1:12)
Amidst great persecution, James offered to the early Christian Church a clear marker ... we must live lives that embody mercy and that move forward with those loving convictions even in the face of anger, hatred and threat. A valuable message 2,000 years ago. A valuable message today.
There's a powerful story near the end of this video that's worth waiting for!
"Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment." (James 2:12-13)
