Forgiveness is a process that grows out of our relationship with the Lord and spiritual maturity. However, the work we have to do to forgive grows us. Forgiving actions or words calls on the best of us and helps us to begin real forgiveness. Especially if we do it prayerfully following the instructions of Scripture.

Reconciliation is the final step in the process of healing hurting relationships; the burden of reconciliation rests on those who have wronged another. To step into this phase productively, we have to be able to own our faults and express regret. The ability to own our faults grows most productively out of our own reconciled relationship with the Lord and our sense of His love and forgiveness in our lives.
